PrimeSurvey
Survey software for regulated research

PrimeSurvey is the sovereign European survey and research data-collection platform.

EU owned, hosted, developed and operated by Nuwa Limited. Your survey goes live the moment its lawful basis is complete, with the impact assessment checked too where one is triggered.

  • Owned and run by one EU company.
  • Four prices, all published.
  • Single sign-on published, from €99.

The workbench

What the software actually does.

You build the instrument, the gate holds it to a lawful basis, and the report gives back aggregates rather than people.

Build

Thirteen element kinds, five palettes

Single choice, ranking, matrix and rating scales, grouped the way the market lays them out. Logic branches on the answer given, and the whole questionnaire exports as a JSON file you can read, diff and import back.

Report

Aggregates, not people

Distributions, completion and matrix summaries, with any bucket under five responses suppressed so a respondent cannot be picked out of a thin cell. Export as CSV, JSON-LD, SQL or archivable, tagged PDF/A-2a and PDF/UA-1.

Launch gate
Launch follows a complete lawful basisThe refusal is HTTP 409, written to the audit log as survey.launch_blocked.
The record
Six append-only tables no update or delete can touchConsent, the impact assessment and the Article 30 snapshot.
Access
Public, password, invite or pseudonymisedChosen per study, and the mode is part of the record.
Sovereignty
EU owned, hosted, developed and operatedBuilt and run by Nuwa Limited inside the EU.
Sovereignty

Sovereign by construction, EU owned and operated.

PrimeSurvey is built and run by Nuwa Limited, a company inside the European Union. It is EU owned, EU hosted, EU developed and EU operated. That is structural, not a setting you toggle. Many platforms host in the EU while the company that owns them sits elsewhere. Ownership inside the EU is the stronger thing to hold.

Sovereignty is the floor this is built on. The launch gate, the consent record and the exports are what you check next.

The record

An impact assessment is a document about a system, written by someone who does not hold the system's facts. The system holds them. It knows which item was shown, in which version, under which consent text, and to whom. So the software produces them. A study that needs an assessment and lacks one is refused at launch inside a serialisable transaction. The refusal is written to the audit log, and the caller gets HTTP 409. Not a warning banner. A refusal. Six tables carry BEFORE UPDATE OR DELETE triggers in Postgres, so a consent record cannot be edited by a developer, an administrator or us. You can check that against your own instance in a minute, which is the point of putting it in the database rather than a code comment.

Comparison against legacy survey platforms

01Single sign-on
PrimeSurveyOIDC at €99. SAML at €399. Both prices on the page.
LegacyQualtrics: SSO is a paid feature. LimeSurvey: Corporate only, price not published.
02Participant IP
PrimeSurveyNot recorded with a response. Signed-in staff sessions do store one.
LegacyQualtrics records IP and location by default. Switching it off later hides the earlier ones rather than deleting them.
03Sovereignty
PrimeSurveyEU owned, hosted, developed and operated. The owning company is in the EU, not only the servers.
LegacyGoogle, on its own residency page: localisation does not affect whether a provider may have to disclose data.
04Your questionnaire
PrimeSurveyExports as a JSON file you can read, diff and keep.
LegacyQualtrics ships .QSF, a proprietary shape its own documentation tells you not to edit.
05Where they beat us
PrimeSurveyOn headline price at the entry tier, LimeSurvey Expert is cheaper. Their price includes 23 per cent VAT and ours excludes it, so like for like theirs is the lower number.
LegacyThey are cheaper on that tier. We carry six to twelve times the response allowance at the tiers that line up.
